How prepared are you for success?
Many times we find ourselves in situations based on the decisions we have made in the past. We have great jobs and live wonderful lives as a result of decisions ABC. Or we are in a tough situation because of XYZ. Emerging in our lives are the consequences that we must be prepared to face. I speak to people all the time thinking or wonderful if they should have done something different. Should I have majored in Engineering vs. Liberal Arts? Was he Mr. Right? Should I have bought that car? These are examples of decisions that we could have made. And despite those life altering decisions, the greatest decisions I hear the greatest regrets is not having a plan for when something bad happens. Did we have a evacuation plan? Should we have packed more water or even more diapers. Those that are parents understand the situation with the pampers. We are living in a dynamic world that changes faster than ever before. Technology has changed how the human experience evolves and how we interface with it. Soon we will have self driving cars, robots, and lots of new inventions that we have not even thought about. And the ever changing reality has opportunities to create certainty at some level. Planning and controlling what you can will help you sleep a little better at night. Being able to know that your family's future, your home, and your retirement don't all hinge on your job's insurance plan or how long you can remain there. Being proactive and taking some measures to safe guard your life and minimize your risks is success. Paul "Bear" Bryant's famous quote frames it all up.
